Look what I got in the mail today...

Angels

... one yard of angel fabric and one yard of button fabric, professionally printed by Spoonflower! They were really behind the schedule since one of the printer broke, so it took 3 weeks for the fabric to be printed, but it's all worth it. I am going to make little stuffed angel dolls and bunch of fabric buttons that can be made into rings, brooches, earrings and necklaces later. Wish me luck! :)

Check this out!!!

Rico Grouted

I am so thrilled to let you know that one of my bestest friend, Donna Van Hooser, has just opened her Etsy shop! Donna is a consultant designer in my company (meaning she is at the highest level a designer can ever be). Being one of the most generous person I've ever known, she is MEGA talented, really fast and her attention to detail is just unmatched. She creates beautiful mosaic works, and she will make a custom pet portrait mosaic for you if you give her the photo.

Here are some of Donna's past works just to show you how good she is. This first one is Virgin of Guadalupe; it's HUGE, about 8.5 feet tall. And then there are some smaller pieces she has done throughout the years. Enjoy!

My design was stolen... Here is the copycat!

My DESIGN AND THE COPYCAT

Last week I mentioned that one of my Flickr friend wrote me and let me know that there is a t-shirt being sold in Korea with my Mustached Owl design on it. The problem is, I've never authorized the usage to any company. Finally, she was able to get some shots of the shirt and sent them to me. Take a look! It's a total rip-off!!!! They didn't even change my design and they claimed that they designed it on the back of the shirt. The Korean company's name is BROCCOLI, and my friend told me that they are pretty well-known in Korea. UUUUUURRRRR!!!!!!

YoYo Goodness: Reversible Necklace

Didn't I say making yoyos is addictive yesterday? Here are more yoyo goodness. I made a reversible necklace; it's sundae sweetness in the front and vintage chic at the back, see?

Also I made two more YoYo Brooches. The expresso one is hand-drawn. They are all going to be in the shop soon.

A Crafty Weekend

I can still hear the firework outside even though it has past midnight already. How are you? Did you do anything fun this weekend? Got together with your family and had a cook-out, maybe? I spent mine running between craft shops and fabric stores, gathering materials for my new creations. It was really hot and driving around town was exhausting, but I was enjoy every minute of it! Because I am doing something for myself, not for anybody else. It's not about money (even thought it would be nice to make some along the way), but it has everything to do with being able to make whatever I want while figuring out how to make it. To me, it's fun; it's freedom! Even though I am very thankful for my daytime job, I treasure the time I spend working on my own little "store".

I made a long list of things I could make, since I know I will have a craft show in November, and another possible one in October. I made some new brooches to begin with, just to see how it goes. I used the images from my Happy Stampies, so they did go faster since I didn't have to draw on each one, but still it took quite a bit of time to stitch them together. I am thinking next time I can make some of these brooches with fun, hand-lettered initials? Wouldn't that be nice?

PS: One thing I learned this weekend: making yo-yos is really addictive!
